Call for Workshop Proposals

23nd International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM)
Shanghai, China. Nov 3-7, 2014

The ACM Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM) is the premier international conference on topics at the confluence of the information retrieval, databases, and knowledge management. Running annually since 1992, it currently attracts over 800 participants, including the best talent in industry and academia. The conference will foster collaboration and bridge the academic- commercial gap in the database, information retrieval, and knowledge management communities.

We now encourage prospective workshop organizers to submit proposals for highly interactive workshops (either full-day or half-day) focusing on either in-depth analysis or broad-ranging approaches to information retrieval, databases, and knowledge management. Those workshops will complement the main CIKM 2014 conference. The workshops will be held one day before and one day after the main CIKM 2014 conference, i.e. November 3(Monday) or  November 7, 2014 (Friday).

Important Dates
  • Workshop proposal submission: April 20, 2014
  • Proposal acceptance notification due: April 30, 2014
  • Full paper submission due: July 30, 2014 (suggested)

Submission Guidelines

It is highly recommended to use the CIKM 2014 Workshop Proposal Template (same as the last year) for your submission. Workshop proposals are reviewed based on the quality of the proposal, its relation to the main CIKM topics, and the likelihood to attract enough participants as well as the hosting capacity of the venue.

Exact workshop paper submission and author notification due dates are at the discretion of workshop organizers but must fit within the time-line indicated above.

Accepted workshop papers will also be published in the CIKM workshop proceedings, which will be printed on CD only and indexed in the ACM Digital Library, together with the main CIKM 2014 proceedings. All the workshop papers should be limited to no more than 10 pages in ACM Conference format. And organizers are not allowed to submit their own papers to their workshops.

Workshop proposals should be submitted by email to either of the workshop chairs (XiaofengMeng and Huan Liu (,
